Ahead of her solo debut on April 8, I talked to U-Min about being on CAP-TEEN, the musicians she looks up to, her YouTube channel, and her goals for the future. Photo courtesy of HUX Entertainment How does it feel to be making a solo debut? I'm so excited, but on the other hand, I feel nervous and burdened thinking that I have to do well. What can listeners expect from your debut mini-album? I'm going to show them my talent and charm through various concepts. Are there any hints you can give about what to expect from your debut music video? They will see my innocent and lovely self, and they will all feel excited. What is the story behind your decision to participate in CAP-TEEN? Did you hope to become a famous singer long before that? After learning about the proposal, I said I'd give it a try right away. I have dreamed of becoming a singer since I was really young. What was it like being on CAP-TEEN? What lessons did you learn from that experience? I was nervous because it was my first appearance on the show, and I was happy to have a special experience. I thought I should have practiced more live and should show more confidence next time. What advice do you have for people who want to be on a show like CAP-TEEN someday? I want to tell them to show everything they want on the stage. What three words best describe your YouTube channel, and what new YouTube content can fans expect from you in the future? I think the words that express it best are passion, healing, and brightness. In the future, fans can see eating show content. Are you hoping to separate U-Min the YouTuber from U-Min the singer? In other words, do you think of these projects as showing different sides of yourself? As long as I can show myself as a singer on the air, I will show my daily life [outside of singing] on YouTube. What has the album-making process been like for you? Has anything surprised you about your experience recording a mini-album? I was able to improve my skills and grow overall. I was surprised that it took a lot of steps for the album [to get ready to] come out. What musicians inspire you? Who would you love to collaborate with someday? I learned a lot from my senior IU, and I would love to collaborate with my senior Rothy someday. What are your plans and goals for your future in music?
