Silica Gel, a Korean rock band with a distinguishable alternative sound, just released another boundary-pushing single, “BIG VOID”! While the song was teased previously during a headlining set, listeners can now enjoy the hopeful, guitar-led tune in its entirety! The track builds on bright piano motifs in ways that speak to the group’s organic, ongoing sonic evolution. It furthers the shift away from the industrial instincts of their earlier works, making it a suitable follow-up to another 2025 single, “南宮FEFERE” (featuring Japanese Breakfast).

“BIG VOID” proves this band understands the power of audiovisual storytelling. They have teamed up again with director Song Kiho (of the interdisciplinary collective Azikazin Magicworld) for the new music video. Song Kiho is uniquely positioned to executive the act’s creative visions, having brought them to life in the “Tik Tak Tok” video and the “Syn.THE.Size X” live show.
Besides the evolving and multidimensional nature of their music and collaborations with iconic artists, Silica Gel have gained attention through their many live shows. From opening for Noel Gallagher to headlining KINTEX for a crowd of 15,000, and from winning at a Taiwanese awards show to playing at a festival in Singapore, they have been wowing a range of audiences. They aren’t even done yet when it comes to 2025 gigs; they still have shows in Osaka and Tokyo later this month, plus participation in Korea’s year-end “Countdown Fantasy” event!

Silica Gel’s booked and busy - not to mention creative! - 2025 makes them ones to watch in the new year and beyond.
