A quick Q&A with JVEH about his new single and future plans. Photo credit: Instagram What is the meaning behind your stage name? It's “Jae Hong,” my actual name, but I chopped it to “JAEH,” and the “A” looked weird, so I flipped it to “V.” Did you consider using other stage names first before picking JVEH? Yeah, it was Jaehong, and before [I decided on “JVEH”], I changed [it] a lot. What is your new single about? It’s “su-go,” and an initial consonant “ㅅ” for “su” is “ㄱ” for “go.” It's like an abbreviation. We use "ㅅㄱ" (“su go”) like slang, if we [mess] up with something and have a serious problem, like "I forgot to close my window, and it's raining." We type "ㅅㄱ" as a reply. It's like, "Oh well, take care. I can’t help you, but try your best." Do you have any TMI stories from making this song? I was talking with my friends [about how] I couldn’t figure out love. I didn't know the difference between having a crush and [being in] love. What has the reaction to “it’s sugo (ㅅㄱ)” been like so far? It was a little weird, because everyone didn't like it before [I played it for them before it was out on] music platforms. Are you working on more new music now? What will it sound like? Yeah. My crew, Ember Records, will be coming out [with music] soon [with] a lot of features. The songs have different genres, and you will see different images from “it’s sugo (ㅅㄱ).” How would you describe JVEH’s music to someone who has never heard it before? I make my music to make people sympathize. My music [catalog] will be [known as] “one that everyone thinks about.” What is the biggest reason why people should check out your new single? It's a beginning, so there is no reason to check it out, but if [listeners] saw me, they would know that my music is getting better. What are your goals and dreams for your music career? I just want to keep my emotions straight, not follow the trend. I will do other jobs besides making music, but I hope to become like my role models. Who are your musical influences? I'm a big fan of Post Malone, Justin Bieber, tobi lou, and Aminé, for the beats they use. I never learned to make music or sing as a vocalist like Post Malone, but I believe my senses and passion [allow me to] hustle.
