For those who have not heard your music before, how would you describe it to them? How would you finish the sentence “IHWAK is ___” or “IHWAK’s music is ___”?

In the past, I aspired to create music with a sexy vibe, but nowadays, I would describe my music as “music that truly understands my heart.”
예전에는 섹시한 음악을 추구하고 싶었어요. 하지만 이제는 ‘내 마음을 알아주는 음악’ 이라고 말하고 싶습니다.

Who or what first inspired you to pursue a music career?
음악 활동을 시작하게 된 계기는 무엇이었나요?
I became interested in singing back in middle and high school, but the idea of ​​diving into music professionally from scratch felt daunting and frightening. Even after entering college, I played in a band with friends, but it was strictly for fun. Eventually, I took some time to clear my head and enlisted in the military - specifically, the Special Forces. Ironically, it was in that environment - a place seemingly completely unrelated to music - [where] I discovered my true dream. After completing my service and gaining various experiences, I joined YG Entertainment, and that is when I officially began my music career in earnest.
중,고등학교 때 부터 노래에 관심이 생겼지만 아예 음악을 시작하기엔 막막하고 두려웠습니다. 대학생이 되고 나서도 학교 친구들과 밴드를 했지만 재미로 하는 정도 였죠. 그러다가 마음을 정리하고 군대(특공대)를 갔는데 음악과 전혀 어울리지 않는 곳에서 꿈을 갖게 되었습니다. 군 복무를 마치고 여러 경험을 쌓다가 YG에 가게 되면서 본격적으로 음악을 하게 되었죠ㅎㅎ

Was Call It Love the EP title from the beginning? 
'Call It Love'는 처음부터 EP 앨범 제목이었나요? 
During the initial planning stages, we were leaning towards “You’re my masterpiece” as the title track, while other songs, including “Call It Love,” were still in production. Even after nearly all the tracks were completed, we continued to deliberate between those two songs for the title spot. Eventually, we leaned towards “Call It Love,” and that naturally became the album title as well.
원래 앨범 기획 단계에서는 너란작품 이라는 곡을 어느정도 타이틀 이라고 생각하고 있었고 Call It Love를 포함한 다른 곡들은 작업중에 있었죠. 곡들이 거의 다 완성되고 나서도 두 곡 중 타이틀 고민을 하다가 Call It Love 로 기울게 되면서 자연스럽게 앨범 이름도 Call It Love로 정해지게 되었습니다.

If you had to make another one of the songs on Call It Love a collaboration that is not already one, which song would you pick, and which artist would you feature?
'Call It Love'에 수록된 곡 중 다른 아티스트와 협업해야 한다면 어떤 곡을 선택하고 어떤 아티스트와 함께 작업하고 싶으신가요?
Since I’ve already had the privilege of collaborating with the incredible artist BOBBY on “Too Much,” I honestly couldn't ask for anything more in terms of collaborations for this album! 
이미 BOBBY라는 최고의 아티스트와 Too Much 라는 수록곡을 함께 했기 때문에 이번 앨범에서는 협업에 있어 더 바랄게 없습니다:)

Which of the songs on Call It Love were you the most excited for people to hear, and why?
'Call It Love' 앨범 수록곡 중 어떤 곡을 가장 기대하고 있으며, 그 이유는 무엇인가요?
Since the album’s release, aside from the title track, I’ve noticed that the streaming numbers for “ㅇㅇㅇㅇ” and “What’s So Good About Us?” have been steadily climbing. I’m really hoping that those songs continue to gain even more love and attention from listeners!
앨범을 낸 이후에 각 타이틀 곡들을 제외하고 ㅇㅇㅇㅇ 이라는 곡과 뭐가 그렇게 좋을까 라는 곡의 스트리밍 조회수가 반응을 조금씩 보이고 있어서 좀 더 많은 사랑을 받길 기대해 보고 있습니다ㅎㅎ

What behind-the-scenes stories do you have from making specific songs on Call It Love?
《Call It Love》의 수록곡들을 작업하며 겪으셨던 비하인드 스토리가 있다면 들려주세요.
Because I was in the early stages of getting to know someone special when I worked on it, I feel [like] “Call It Love” beautifully captures those fluttering feelings. Although things didn’t take off after that, I consider myself lucky that I was left with great songs.
Call It Love 라는 곡은 그 당시 실제로 조금씩 알아가던 단계에서 작업하던 곡이라 설레는 감정이 잘 담겨있는것 같습니다. 그 이후에 더 잘 되진 않았지만 좋은 곡이 남아 그래도 다행이라고 생각합니다ㅎㅎ 
When writing lyrics, I typically build a framework based on fragments of my own experiences, then flesh out the specific situations within that established worldview. I approached this album in much the same way. In the case of “Too Much,” the lyrics describe an encounter at a party where I’m trying to win over someone who seems on the verge of [falling for me] yet remains just out of reach. BOBBY added a fun twist with his witty lyrics - lines that really capture the dynamic between the two of us - and I think that makes for a great highlight for listeners.
가사 쓸때 보통 경험의 여러 조각들을 토대로 뼈대를 짜고 그 세계관 안에서 상황을 설명하는 편인데 이번 앨범 역시 대부분 그런식의 작업 위주로 했던 것 같습니다 Too Much의 경우 넘어올듯 넘어오지 않는 파티에서 만난 상대를 설득하는 내용인데 피쳐링에 참여한 BOBBY 가 우리를 잘 설명하는 재치있는 가사로 재미를 더해줘서 들을때 좋은 포인트가 될 거라고 생각합니다.

Who is another artist that you have really enjoyed collaborating with, and why?
함께 협업하는 과정이 정말 즐거웠던 또 다른 아티스트가 있다면 누구인가요? 그리고 그 이유는 무엇인가요?
I consider GOT7’s JAY B to be one of the easiest artists to collaborate with. Having worked together on numerous projects, we’re able to sit down in the same room and freely exchange ideas in real time, a truly seamless collaborative process. I also enjoy working with iKON’s BOBBY, but there is a distinct difference between the two experiences. With JAY B, the best results tend to emerge when we create the music together in the same physical space. With BOBBY, the synergy is maximized when we each complete our respective parts independently and then combine them. 
갓세븐의 제이비는 많은 작업을 함께 하면서 같은 자리에서 서로 의견을 주고 받는 협업을 하기 가장 수월한 아티스트라고 생각합니다 아이콘의 바비 와도 작업을 재미있게 하고 있지만 이 둘의 다른점은 제이비 와의 작업의 경우 같은 자리에서 함께 만드는 결과물이 좋다 라고 한다면 바비와의 작업은 각자 완성한 두 개를 합쳤을때 시너지가 극대화되어서 그런 차이가 있다고 볼 수 있겠습니다. 

Who is an artist you would love to work with that you have NOT worked with already, and why? 
아직 함께 작업해 보지 못한 아티스트 중 꼭 함께 작업해 보고 싶은 아티스트는 누구이며, 그 이유는 무엇인가요?
While musical style is certainly important, I place a great deal of emphasis on chemistry when collaborating. Therefore, I’d be delighted to work with any artist [if] we share a strong rapport and work well together.
음악 스타일도 중요하지만 작업할때 케미도 상당히 중요하게 생각하는 편이라 손발이 잘 맞는 아티스트라면 누구든 즐겁게 작업해보고 싶습니다.

What are your short-term and long-term career goals?
단기 및 장기적인 커리어 목표는 무엇인가요?
In the short term, my goal is to consistently release albums and establish my name as IHWAK. In the long term, I aspire to become an artist who can move people deeply through live performances. Ultimately, I hope to take the stage at larger venues and connect with an even wider audience.
단기적으로는 꾸준히 앨범을 내면서 가수 조성확(IHWAK)을 알리는 목표가 았다면 장기적으로는 공연을 통해 감동을 줄 수 있는 가수가 되고 싶습니다 큰 무대에서 좀 더 많은 리스너들과 소통하고 싶습니다.

Lastly, is there anything else you want to say about yourself or your music?
마지막으로, 당신이나 당신의 음악에 대해 하고 싶은 말이 더 있으신가요?
