For those who have not heard your music before, how would you describe it? How would you finish the sentence “ifeye is ___” or “ifeye’s music is ___”?
WON HWAYEON: I’d say “ifeye is a genre of its own.” Just like how our first album showed a pure yet chic side and the second album revealed a charismatic new image, we want to keep moving forward by pursuing ifeye’s unique style and music.

What does the fandom name “ifory” mean to you?
RAHEE: Our iforys, their existence [is] a source of strength for us. We’re always so grateful and love [them] very much!

Is sweet tang purposefully written in lowercase letters to contrast with the all-caps ERLU BLUE?
SASHA: Yes, that was intentional. With our first album, ERLU BLUE, we wanted to emphasize presence and impact, so we used all caps. With sweet tang, we wanted to capture the dual emotions of our generation, both sweet and sharp. By using lowercase, we expressed a younger, more casual, approachable yet stylish vibe.

What are some other differences between sweet tang and ERLU BLUE?
TAERIN: The biggest difference lies in the ranges of emotions. ERLU BLUE stays within a consistent mood, focusing on expressing either sensitivity or intensity, depending on the track. sweet tang, on the other hand, [is] split into two extremes: songs that embody “sweetness” and others that embody a “tangy bite.” If you compare the title tracks, the change is even clearer. While [ERLU BLUE’s main track] “NERDY” shows shy, whispering girls, [sweet tang’s main track] “r u ok?” presents a much bolder, confident side of ifeye.

What are your favorite songs on sweet tang?
MEU: My favorite tracks are “ifeye (interlude)” and “round and round.” “ifeye (interlude)” captures our group’s identity, and the chorus is so catchy that once you hear it, you’ll be hooked. “round and round” is a reinterpretation of the children’s song of the same name, but with our dreamy atmosphere and unique voices, it becomes something really special.

The “r u ok?” music video is so quirky! What is the meaning behind it?
KASIA: The “r u ok?” [music video] actually continues from the ending scene of our debut, “NERDY.” It depicts events happening inside of a dream, which is why you’ll see a lot of surreal moments.

The word “Hurricane” appears several times in the “r u ok?” video. Why is that a key word for the song?
MEU: “Hurricane” is a very important key word in our universe. ERLU BLUE and sweet tang might be different, but both are part of our larger “Wave Lang” concept. ERLU BLUE began with swaying emotions, [but] as ifeye moves forward and grows, we encounter a huge storm of feelings - excitement, joy, anxiety, tension - all colliding. Among natural phenomena, a hurricane best represents those intense emotions, which is why it became a key [word].

Do you still feel like rookies? In what ways have you grown or changed since debuting?
SASHA: At first, since we didn’t have much stage experience, we didn’t really know how to enjoy performing. But after performing at festivals and bigger stages, we realized that we truly thrive on stage. We’ve grown a lot, and now we proudly say, “ifeye was born for the stage!”

What was your experience like at KCON LA?
TAERIN: It was our very first overseas stage, and such a huge one, too. It was a big joy and honor to perform for so many people and share ifeye’s music and performances. After KCON, our passion for the stage grew even stronger, along with our desire to become true artists. It was an unforgettable experience.

What are your short-term and long-term goals?
KASIA: Our short-term goal is definitely [to win] the “Rookie of the Year” award, as it is a special honor. For the long term, we want to create our own path without limits, walking a road that only ifeye can take.

Lastly, is there anything else you want to say about yourselves or your music?
WON HWAYEON: We want to keep showing you fresh music and concepts in the future. We’ll also be performing on more stages to share our passion, so please look forward to [them] and continue giving us your love and support!
